VEGANISM “I only eat a little meat”, argued a friend. “Well thanks human, I’m only a little bit dead” imagined the late Ben and Jerry’s cow say. Why do we give up meat for lent? Why do we consume fruits for a fast? Pray why, is no meat served within the walls of a holy structure? For the simple reason animals, your minds are blocked.
And yes, I was referring to you.
Eating dead bodies, is that what the world has come down to? For the sake of some mouthful of flesh we deprive a soul of the sun and the light and of that proportion of life and time it had been born in the world to enjoy.
For the most part, we carnivores do not eat other carnivores. We prefer to eat our vegetarian ‘friends’. Just come to think of it.
You know nothing about the animal that passes as your favorite pizza topping. You are unaware of its gender, it’s age, it’s origins, it’s personality, even it’s struggle to stay alive, trying to get a chance, just one chance to live life nothing else. Do you know what we actually know. Cannibalism. Insert definition: cannibalism is the practice of eating the flesh of one's own species. And yes, as I’ve previously mentioned, there’s no denying that we humans are the biggest animals.
Just for the taste. A taste of someone’s insides, someone who’d been loved by their parents, raised lovingly, completely unaware of who would be the first one to be killed. Imagine the misery, the pain. In the wild, there’s no age. You can either be egged up before you’re even born, slaughtered for a lamb chop, or be served as aged steak. Absolutely no chance at life.
We shrink away from blood, bone, feathers, marrow, everything that is inside of us. Does that mean that we in a way, are consuming ourselves? And we cringe to do so? It is joy in the human instinct to watch mass murder, hear shrieks of pain, or think about how your KFC bucket started off in the first place.
Humans have short fingernails and small canine teeth. In contrast all carnivores have sharp claws and large canines to help them tear and chew flesh. We have stomach acids that once were, and still are incapable of digesting meat. Our intestines are much longer than those of carnivores, which means that meat actually begins to rot while it makes its way through your gut.
You’re at clear risk of developing colon cancer, and I done need to be a doctor to say that. Still not convinced? I wasn’t trying to. This is my fight ,your fight. Our fight. The true decision comes from your heart (only if you have enough of it). So the next time you visit someplace to purify yourselves, just remember, it will all go to waste the next time you consume a slaughtered animal, whether halal or not. Finally, in the time you took to read, and understand, or not, an average of 90 chickens, you might meet on your plate tomorrow we’re killed, in a single slaughterhouse, after a bleak, torturous life of just two months. This is globally, and annually 305 billion chickens killed for your satisfaction. Which means you alone, probably consume about 50 whole chickens, or more annually. You know how people say, one can’t make a difference. Well 50 innocent lives saved does sound quite a lot to me.
And finally the question is not, can they reason? Nor can they talk? But, can they suffer?
